Education & Training
Education & Training
Chiropractors complete extensive education and hands-on training to safely and effectively care for patients. Their studies focus on understanding the human body, how it functions, and how to support health—especially through the spine and nervous system.
Pre-Chiropractic (Undergraduate) Studies
Before entering chiropractic school, students typically complete 2–4 years of undergraduate education with a strong focus on science. This often includes courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology—similar to pre-med requirements.
Chiropractic Program & Clinical Training
After undergraduate studies, students enter a 4–5 year chiropractic program. The curriculum is comparable in depth to medical training and includes:
-
Anatomy and physiology
-
Neurology and pathology
-
Radiology and diagnostics
-
Biomechanics and spinal care
-
Chiropractic techniques and adjustments
Students also receive training in nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness, along with learning when to refer patients to other healthcare providers.
A key part of the program is clinical experience. Students complete supervised internships, working directly with patients to build practical skills and confidence before graduating.
Licensing & Certification
Graduates must pass national board exams and meet regional licensing requirements before they can practice. This ensures chiropractors meet strict standards for safety and quality of care.
Ongoing Professional Development
Chiropractors continue their education throughout their careers by attending courses and seminars. This helps them stay current with the latest research, techniques, and best practices.
Advanced & Specialized Training
Some chiropractors choose to pursue additional postgraduate education in specialized areas such as:
-
Sports injuries and rehabilitation
-
Neurology
-
Orthopedics
-
Pediatrics
-
Nutrition
-
Diagnostic imaging
These programs provide deeper expertise in specific areas of care.
